BIO

Brent Bevis began studying the piano at age nine and took up the guitar in high school.

He continued his study of the guitar at Florida State University under the tutelage of Bruce Holzman.  He spent ten years in Tallahassee teaching and playing professionally in many musical genres.  After moving to Jacksonville, he held various musical jobs for the Episcopal Church.  His transcriptions for the guitar include Songs and Prayers from Taize, a collection of 50 chorales, and most recently, a collection of 10 songs by Pink Floyd.

 Don Casper has a reputation as one of the finest finger style guitar players in the region; in 1997 he won the Gamble Rogers Finger Style Competition.  As a performer and composer he has crossed the musical boundaries of jazz, folk, and classical styles. 

His first CD, Free Range, received great critical reviews.  He holds a degree in the humanities from Jacksonville University and completed his studies in the jazz program at the University of North  Florida.  Mr. Casper heads the guitar programs at Douglas Anderson High School of the Arts and LaVilla Middle  School of the Arts.

Trey Brewer has been performing and teaching guitar for over thirty years encompassing all styles from acoustic, classical, jazz, and pop music. He has performed with Neil Sedaka, The Guy Lombardo Big Band, Jacksonville Symphony, and The St. Johns River City Band. After studying classical guitar with the renowned John Sutherland for two years, Trey moved to Atlanta and received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance from Georgia State University. He received a scholarship for graduate studies from The University of North Florida to study with Jack Peterson. Trey is director of the guitar department for the Saint Johns County Center for the Arts at St. Augustine High School.

Kent Smedley began playing the guitar at the age of four; at ten he began formal lessons in guitar, piano and voice, and at fifteen he was teaching guitar, piano and music theory.  He studied guitar with James Chandler and Gary Starling at Jacksonville University and with legendary jazz guitarist Jack Petersen at the University of North Florida.  He has also had lessons with classical guitarist Christopher Parkening. 

As a rock/jazz guitarist, Kent has recorded and toured internationally with bands, such as, Prodogy, Kitae, Manic Expression, and Spicolis’ Dream.  His most recent CD is called “Whispered Dreams”.  Kent teaches at his music studio in Mandarin, where he’s so busy that there is a waiting list for new students.
